PEOPLE IN THE NEWS San Marcos, Texas-based McCoy’s Building Supply has promoted a fourth-generation executives. Meagan McCoy Jones will assume the role of executive VP and chief operating officer. “Meagan’s promotion recognizes the role she has had for some time now as we co-lead McCoy’s,” president and CEO Brian McCoy said. “Our family is fortunate to have a very capable and involved ‘next generation’ leader.” Meagan is a member of the board of directors of McCoy Corporation, a partner in McCoy Remme Ranches, a member of the executive committee and board of directors of the Texas Association of Builders, and co-chair of the Legislative committee of the Lumbermen’s Association of Texas. Stanley Black & Decker will be getting a new chairman in 2017. George Buckley, current lead independent director, became chairman effective Jan. 1. He will succeed John Lundgren, who retired as CEO in July after more than 12 years with the company, and has been serving as chairman until year-end. Buckley has been with the board since March 2010 after previously serving as a director of Black & Decker since 2006. He is a member of the Audit Committee, the Compensation and Organization Committee and the Executive Committee. “George’s depth of experience leading multi-national industrial companies ... make him a perfect fit to become chairman,” Lundgren said. Steven Mnuchin was nominated as President-elect Donald Trump’s appointee for Secretary of the Treasury. Mnuchin announced Dec. 2 that he was stepping down from the Sears Holdings board of directors, effective immediately. Mnuchin joined the board in March 2005 when Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Kmart Holding Corporation were in the process of merging. In May 2003, he was named to the board of directors for Kmart Holding Corporation. “I want to thank Steven for his leadership, guidance and counsel during his more than 13 years of service as a highly valued member of the boards of both Sears Holdings and the former Kmart Holding Corporation,” said Edward Lampert, chairman and CEO of Sears Holdings. Scott Tilley, general counsel for Stihl in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was re-elected as chairman of the Virginia Manufacturers Association. The VMA also announced two strategic goals and launched its most aggressive fundraising campaign in its 94-year history. “I am honored to serve a second term as chairman,” Tilley said. “Manufacturing is growing across the Commonwealth and we take pride in our work that has helped foster that growth. Over the next five years the VMA is going to aggressively implement workforce solutions, member benefits programs and legislative solutions to make the Commonwealth the most competitive place in the U.S. to manufacture world-class products.” Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. President and CEO John Hannan will retire early next year. His retirement caps a successful 25-year career at the Dubuque, Iowa-based dealer, during which he’s been a key driver in the company’s growth. Hannan was named VP two years after joining in 1991, and served as president and CEO since 2004. “This is a bittersweet moment. I am incredibly proud of everything we’ve accomplished as a company during my time here, which makes it that much harder to step away and focus on the next chapter of my life,” Hannan said. During the Massachusetts Retail Lumber Dealers Association annual meeting, brothers Michael, Gerard and Jack Moynihan were recognized with the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.
